Dangal  is an upcoming Indian biographical sports drama film directed by Nitesh Tiwari.The film is produced by Disney Studio India. The film stars Aamir Khan sketch the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat. Geeta Phogat was India's first female wrestler to win at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Dangal is the native name of wrestling site in Hindi which is popular in India. It has also regional names like Kusti and Pehlwani in India. Dangal is scheduled to release on 23 December 2016. The music for Dangal is composed by Pritam while lyrics are by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Aamir Khan just kicked off the shoot of his next film Dangal. Based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, Dangal is to have Aamir inside the wrestling pit. The actor had taken to Twitter yesterday (September 20) to announce that the shooting of Dangal would begin on September 21:Aamir had flown to Ludhiana to kick-start the shooting of Dangal on September 14. A couple days later, the actor was suddenly at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, seeking blessings before he starting the movie.Right from the time the film was announced, Aamir and his wrestler avatar have been in the news. The actor's beefed up physique, his salt-and-pepper look, the actors playing his on-screen daughters: have all been making headlines since Day 1. Aamir, known to walk the extra mile for whichever film he is roped in for, has gained 30kg for the role of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat.

Aamir Khan was last seen on the silver screen in the 2014 film PK. In addition to shattering numerous box office records, Aamir's film won him much praise from both critics and the audience. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is expected to hit the theatres on Christmas 2016.
