Bahubali& Srimanthudu Loses To Court In The Oscar Entrance
An Indian film Court, Mainly the Social activist who has
accused of inducement a sewage worker to suicide by singing folk music against
his state. Now, this Marathi drama film will be the entry Oscars this year, 2015 from India film. The
Oscar Awards will take place sometime in
February or March .Apart from Court, the list of films that had been considered
for the honors had names like Baahubali and Srimanthudu. While, Court has got
the unanimous votes from the jury and since there is only one option to chose,
the jury has gone with Court Tamhane’s Court had won the National Award for the
Best Feature Film this year. The film won rave reviews from critics and was
released from India in April 2015. "As
an Indian filmmaker, I feel proud that there was more than one film which we
thought deserved that could be nominated", Amol Palekar added. He also
affirmed that they have been plain in the process of selection. The Secretary
General of Film Federation of India said that “Court will be the movie from
India to Oscars”. The film that made in Marathi has won the Best Feature Film
award at the 62nd National Film Awards. The film has also won several other
awards in a total of 18.
Oscar each year, the
Film Federation of India shortlists a number of good films released that year.
From that list, the best one is picked by the members of FFI and is submitted
as an India's official entry to the court film.
Baahubali’s team failed
to get an entry to Oscar. Though most of the movie lovers expected it to be the
official Oscar entry from India, It has lost to a Marathi film Court directed
by Chaitanya Tamhane. Amol Palekar, Chairman of India's Oscars jury, has
announced that the jury has decided to send Court as the India's official entry
to Oscar in the best foreign film category. The jury has watched both the films
and included them in the final 30 films to send to Oscar. As Bahubali is a
feature-length film that was produced outside the United States with a
non-english language, the only award it is eligible for is the "Best
Foreign Language Film". The best films released this year would make the
shortlist of FFI. Those would include strong contenders like NH10, Piku, Dum
Laga ke Haisha, Badlapur and others. If Bahubali even makes the shortlist, it
would face strong competition from the other films making it unlikely to be
selected as the offical entry.Till date, India has sent over forty films as a
official entry for the nomination. Yet only three films from India have been
nominated since the "Best Foreign Language Film" award was introduced
in 1956. These are Mother India, Salaam Bombay, and Lagaan. Out of three films,
not a single one has won the award. Mother India came close but lost to Nights
Of Cabiria by a single vote. The films that do get nominated for the awards all
have one thing in common. Great Story. But Bahubali is a good film by Indian
standards, it's not great. It's highly unlikely that it would be nominated for
the award.
Let us hope that “Court” success the Oscar Jury and Wins and Oscar for India.
